Jason Jenkins, VP of Communications for the Miami Dolphins discusses how the Dolphins use mobile technology.

"As technology continues to take a hold on each and every aspect of our personal and professional lives, expectations to receive the most accurate, up-to-date information quickly has become the new normal."

The media and the fans demand football information--and they want it now. The Miami Dolphins answer these demands using an Interactive Media Guide—a mobile solution that requires minimal time and effort, but delivers maximum results. Best of all, this mobile tool can easily be replicated in other organizations. Jason Jenkins, VP of Communications for the Miami Dolphins discusses the benefits.

What frustrations or business problems were you dealing with that the Interactive Media Guide help you to address?

"The Interactive Media Guide (IMG) helps address a few different issues. The most important being that we are easily able to communicate important player information to the media almost immediately after an event. More specifically; injury reports and transcripts. The IMG supports our printed media guides, making our bios easily transferable after the season ends. Since the software is dynamic, we can update it on an on-going basis without having to wait to make adjustments to the printed versions."

What impact did the IMG make to your overall PR budget?

“The great part about technology is that they are many new tools such as the IMG that can save time AND money. To be honest, I haven’t calculated the exact cost savings from the smaller distribution of printed guides, but each year that we have worked with Studio Tiga, we are able to fine tune the number of guides we print. On top of that, the soft costs of updating the media with player information has become less, significantly reducing the amount of time we spent on updates.”

How quickly were you able to implement the IMG into your daily operations?

”User input has progressively gotten easier over the years. Our interns found the IMG’s interface very intuitive, making it easier to get them up to speed with our daily operations. It gives them more time to focus on other projects and in the end makes everyone more efficient. ”

What are the benefits of having an interactive media guide on a mobile device?

”As technology continues to take a hold on each and every aspect of our personal and professional lives, expectations to receive the most accurate, up-to-date information quickly has become the new normal. The IMG serves as great way to access information on a real-time, up to date basis, wherever the information is needed.”

What kind of demands are the media putting upon you as far as delivery of information and player assets?

”Particularly in the media where competition is fierce, each outlet is looking to break new stories first. The IMG allows us to post information quickly, on a secured site only once instead of having to take the time to place it in multiple forms with different types of media. Our fans are not much different. They deserve to get the latest and most accurate information as soon as they can. We strive to give it to them and the IMG has been a big help.”
